Thoughts from Dr. Clancy: Stress
Stress is a natural physical and mental reaction to life’s experiences. All of us lead busy and demanding lives that can leave us breathless, exhausted and stressed. There are numerous emotional and physical disorders that have been linked to stress. In fact, it is hard to think of any disease that stress does not play some aggravating role in. At our office, we not only acknowledge that stress plays a large role in dental visits, but we have taken great steps to minimize the amount of stress that our patients feel daily. Every new technology that we introduce is aimed at making our patients comfortable, such as:
- Painless anesthetic
- CAD/CAM technology for easy and quick restorations
- Digital impressions that don’t require uncomfortable or distasteful material in the mouth
- Lasers that help speed recovery
- NuCalm relaxation system to prevent anxiety in the dental chair
We believe that our office is at the forefront of stress reduction and stress elimination. One of our many promises is to continue investing in equipment and education aimed at making anxiety in the dental office a thing of the past.
NuCalm: Reduce Your Dental Anxiety
Dental anxiety is very common, and it’s an unfortunate truth that many people will avoid going to the dentist because of it. However, avoiding the dentist just leads to long-term dental problems that will only get worse the longer you put off your dental visit. Here at Cosmetic & Esthetic Dentistry, we work hard to provide a calm and relaxing environment for our patients. If you are worried about your dental treatment, we offer the NuCalm system free of charge to help you relax and de-stress during your appointment, whether you are just getting a routine cleaning or are having porcelain veneers put on. NuCalm doesn’t involve any kind of drug, and works by biochemically interrupting the brain’s stress response through deep relaxation. The combination of light blocking, electrotherapy stimulation, and soothing frequencies played through noise-blocking headphones help to take you into a state similar to that of falling asleep. Ask us about NuCalm during your next visit, and conquer your dental anxiety.
Staff Corner: Michelle
I have been a dental assistant for almost eight years now and I love it! I love the girls I get to work with every day, Dr. Clancy, and of course my patients. We all work amazingly together and are always willing to help each other when needed. We are consistently learning new things and new ways to improve what we already do. This job also allows me time to travel so that I can see friends and family. I’m so excited to have a full week off to spend the holidays with my family! Working at Dr. Clancy’s office full time is the best job I could ask for.
